In 1998 Eric started Stroudwater Technologies, LLC, a company specializing in software development and technology consulting. As the President and CTO at Stroudwater, he developed consulting and software engineering methodologies for the company and clients and frequently worked with start-ups who were developing technology assets core to their businesses. He also frequently performed technology due diligence for clients that were making technology-related acquisitions of other companies and products

Eric's experiences in dealing with intellectual property began in college when he did market research for IDEXX Laboratories to help identify products for acquisition targets and ended up as part of a teaming plowing through licensing and patent documents tied to some of the acquisitions. He was also lucky enough to get to work in one of Digital Equipment Corp's defect analysis labs during school breaks, where he had the chance to play with expensive digital photography equipment (it was the early 90's). Right out of college Eric worked in the medical device industry where he worked acted as a liaison between surgeons and engineers designing orthopedic and neurosurgical devices. He also helped compile 510(k) submissions for both hip and knee implants. Figuring out how to manage all this information is what led him to information technology and software engineering.

His experience also includes managing sensitive payment processing data, and financial data and leading several organizations through SSAE-16/SAS70 certifications, PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) certification and financial institution partner audits. He is also currently serving as the CTO for Lyric Financial, a company that provides specialized royalty factoring and financial services to music and entertainment industries.
